Luncheon with the Premier of Saskatchewan, the Honourable Brad Wall

On the 3rd of October, the CCCJ welcomed the Premier of Saskatchewan, the Honourable Brad Wall to present at a luncheon, which drew over 120 business people at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo.

The Premier emphasized the increased strengthening of relations between Japan and the Province of Saskatchewan, noting that Saskatchewan is representing one the strongest economies in Canada, with capital investment, job creation and population growth at record levels. Its agricultural, energy and mineral resources are in high demand around the world, and its scientists and researchers are doing leading edge work in areas such as agricultural biotechnology and carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS). Furthermore, the Premier accentuated the role of Japanese companies in Canada and the deepening of relations between Japan and Saskatchewan/Canada.

The Premier made himself available afterwards for a healthy Q&A session. The Luncheon was subsequently followed by a seminar and business matching session focusing on opportunities with Saskatchewan led by Mr. Lionel Labelle, President and CEO of Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP). STEP was in Japan concurrently with the Premier's mission, leading a business delegation of 12 Saskatchewnan companies through Tokyo and Osaka.
