The first meeting of the McMaster Alumni Association was held on May 3, 1894. Two purposes were set out in this meeting: "The object of the Society shall be to cultivate the spirit of fraternity and unity among its members, and to secure hearty and prompt cooperation in all matters pertaining to the interests of McMaster University".  The MAA currently comprises over 246,502 graduates of the University and is a vital, growing organization. Our mission is to support McMaster University by involving alumni, recognizing alumni achievements, providing services and benefits to alumni, communicating with alumni, and involving current students.
