RWC2019: 2 Years To Go

Join the international business community in Tokyo as we celebrate two years to Japan's hosting of the Rugby World Cup in 2019!
Starting today, tournament organisers will be kicking off a nationwide Rugby World Cup 2019 two-years-to-go festival in Tokyo.  The festival will reach a fitting climax at the international stadium in Yokohama, coinciding with the Japan v Australia match on 4 November, almost two years to the day before the Rugby World Cup 2019 final is played at the very same venue.

On 2 November, exactly two years before the tournament's final match, the match schedule for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan will be unveiled.  So far we know that the opening match is scheduled for 20 September 2019 at Ajinomoto Stadium in western Tokyo, and that the final is set to take place at the 70,000-seat Nissan Stadium in Yokohama.  20 teams from around the world and a total of 48 matches will be played in 12 venues across the whole of Japan.

This will be the first time the tournament is held in Asia and outside of the sport’s traditional strongholds.  Japan 2019 is set to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and fans will soon be able to start planning with the announcement of match locations and details of how, where and when to purchase tickets and hospitality packages.

Join us on 2 November for a discussion on the topic What the Rugby World Cup means for business in Japan  with a panel made up of:

Bill Beaumont, World Rugby Chairman

Brett Gosper, World Rugby CEO

Alan Gilpin – World Rugby COO and Head of Rugby World Cup
