On the 21st, guests will meet at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in downtown Vancouver for the daylong symposium. Canada’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Mackenzie Clugston, and Japan’s Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Kenjiro Monji, will provide opening remarks, which will be followed by a keynote speech on Canada’s Political and Economic outlook. The symposium will then consist of three sessions: 1) Room to grow: Seizing New Opportunities, 2) Investing in Japan and 3) Building relationships that last.
The first session will consist of a presentation by McKinsey & Co. on new opportunities, and a panel session focused on key industries in the Canada-Japan business context such as: IT & digital, energy, agri-food, manufacturing, etc. Session 2, focuses on investing in Japan. This portion of the symposium gives insight into why Canadian businesses should invest in Japan, and examples of successful Canadian businesses that have done so. Building Relationships – the third session in the program – will be done in a panel format and will cover topics such as education exchange immigration and tourism.
Finally, on the 22nd, delegates will go on site visits in the Vancouver area, and will be invited to a networking luncheon.
