Leadership & Innovation in Business Transformation (Rio Tinto)

On November 18, Sam Walsh AO - Chief Executive of Rio Tinto Group, addressed an audience of over 100 executives from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan, the Australia/New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan, the South African Chamber of Commerce in Japan and the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan. Sam spoke on the importance of innovative leadership and being a leader in innovation; collaborating with countries such as Japan; transforming the Rio Tinto business; and driving greater international competitiveness in a volatile global environment.

Sam Walsh AO, Chief Executive, Rio Tinto Group, joined Rio Tinto in 1991, following 20 years in the automotive industry at General Motors and Nissan Australia. He has held a number of management positions during his career at Rio Tinto including chief executive of the Aluminium group from 2001 to 2004, chief executive of the Iron Ore group from 2004 to 2009 and chief executive Iron Ore and Australia from 2009 to January 2013.
