CCCJ Speaker Event: Québec’s Economy and Public Finances

We are pleased to have Mr. Carlos Leitão, Quebec's Minister of Finance, as our first speaker in 2018!

Carlos Leitão holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from McGill University. For over 30 years, he worked in the banking and financial services industry, including for the Royal Bank of Canada, and later for Laurentian Bank Securities, where he was chief economist. He sat on the management committee and the risk management committee of the Laurentian Bank for several years. He was also a member of the Bank of Canada’s Québec Panel.

Over the years, he acquired an in-depth knowledge of economic and financial issues in Québec, Canada and North America. Through his publications and news updates on major economic developments, Carlos Leitão has provided highly strategic guidance to businesses and institutions across the country. In recognition of his talent for identifying major trends in capital markets, he was ranked among the top economists by Bloomberg, a prestigious US magazine that is considered an authority in the financial world.

Mr. Leitão has been Member of the Legislative Assembly for Robert-Baldwin since the election on April 7, 2014 and Minister of Finance of Québec since April 23, 2014.
