CCCJ Tohoku Support Committee Event
On Thursday, March 20, the CCCJ will host a very special monthly mixer at Roppongi Hills Club. As a part of the CCCJ Tohoku Support Committee’s program, hosting high school students from Rikuzentakata, we will have a chance for students to meet each other and hear about the companies where they interned for the week, and also have a chance to meet our members. The event will also feature a special comedic performance by Katsura Sunshine, as well as a buffet and open bar with the backdrop of a breathtaking view of Tokyo you can only see from the 51st floor of Roppongi Hills. Members and guests are welcome. So come on out, have a drink, have a laugh, take in the view, meet new people, and let's help make the CCCJ internship program an unforgettable experience for the students from Tohoku.
For this event we will not be charging the students, and if possible we would like to offer the host families a discount as well in appreciation for bringing a student into their homes for the week. For this reason it would be a great help if members might consider making a donation towards the event. Donations can be made directly to the CCCJ CSR Fund at the bank account below, or from below.

About the Project
In spring break of 2013, CCCJ members and friends together with the NPO, Ganbatte 365, brought down 11 high school students from Takata SHS in Rikuzentakata, Iwate Prefecture for a week of home stay and work experience in the big city. CCCJ Members offered their homes and their companies to help make the project a success and an unforgettable experience for the kids. If you haven't seen it yet, please watch this short video documenting the project:

About the CCCJ Tohoku Support Committee
The committee connects the Chamber, its members and the Tokyo business community with numerous partners in the Tohoku region. We realize rebuilding and normalization after the March 2011 disasters will take years but our goal is to offer a broad range of on-going support to businesses and communities with a modest budget. Therefore our support often involves connecting regional NPOs with corporate sponsors as well as support in such areas as web support, legal services as well as marketing and promotion.
About the MC and Performer
Traditional Japanese Rakugo storyteller Katsura Sunshine is a pioneer and ambassador of Japanese culture to the world and he has been appointed by the CCCJ as Cultural Ambassador. He is the first person of non-Japanese descent in the 400-year-old history of Rakugo in the Osaka tradition to be given the honour of apprenticing to a Rakugo Master (Katsura Bunshi VI), receive a Rakugo family name, complete the rigorous three-year apprenticeship and become a professional Rakugo storyteller.
