Elections 2025

Tomoko Ebine

Candidate for Governor

Dear Members of CCCJ,

I am honored to serve as a Governor of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Japan (CCCJ), especially as we celebrate the Chamber’s 50th anniversary. This milestone is a powerful reminder of the CCCJ’s enduring role in strengthening Canada-Japan relations, and I am proud to be part of a team working to make the Chamber more vibrant, inclusive, and impactful.

My commitment to the CCCJ is reflected in my active involvement across several key areas. I have contributed to the Chamber through planning and coordinating events, supporting operations, finance, compliance, and governance, drawing on my professional expertise to help ensure transparency and responsible leadership. As a member of the Education Committee, I organized a speed mentoring event with our Honorary Board Advisers, creating meaningful opportunities for members to reflect on their careers and aspirations. I also co-led a DEI workshop helping to foster dialogue on inclusion and global collaboration.

These initiatives are part of my broader vision to make the CCCJ a more dynamic and welcoming community. I believe the Chamber is uniquely positioned to build bridges—not only between Canada and Japan, but also among professionals from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to innovation, learning, and mutual respect.

Professionally, I work at Mitsui & Co., Ltd., one of Japan’s leading trading companies. My roles have included Canadian liaison, executive support, environmental strategy, finance, and auditing. Currently, I am part of Mitsui’s think tank—the Mitsui Global Strategic Studies Institute—where I focus on foresight consulting, global intelligence, and DEI and women’s empowerment initiatives. These experiences have deepened my understanding of cross-cultural business and enriched my contributions to the CCCJ.

As a Japanese national, I strive to serve as a cultural bridge, helping Canadian members better understand Japanese customs and business practices. I believe this perspective enhances the Chamber’s ability to engage meaningfully with local companies and communities.

If re-elected, I will continue to prioritize the CCCJ’s growth and impact—enhancing education and DEI programming, strengthening governance, and encouraging more Japanese professionals to connect with the Chamber and discover Canada. I am committed to making the CCCJ an even more inclusive, inspiring, and forward-looking community.

Thank you very much for your consideration.
