he McGill MBA Japan program of the Desautels Faculty of Management invites you to attend the first McGill Japan Forum, on Wednesday February 1st, 2012.

McGill Japan Forum is a series of panel discussions organized by the McGill MBA Japan program and it will serve as an open venue for exchange between many members of the McGill community in Japan, and broader business community. This will be a chance to gain insights, ideas, and shared wisdom from leaders in their fields.

About our Panellists:

Michael Avedesian, B. Eng (McGill) PhD (Cambridge)
Professor Avedesian joined the Desautels Faculty of Management in September 2003 as an Executive-in-Residence and Adjunct Professor after a 34 year career in industry which included founding 3 start-up companies of which two were successful. He now teaches courses in strategic management and entrepreneurship in the Faculty of Management and technological entrepreneurship in the Faculty of Engineering. He also runs a successful consulting business and sits on the Board of Directors of several companies.

Hitoshi Suga, MBA (Harvard Business School '85)
After a long career in business at Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in Japan and the US, Mr. Suga is now Visiting Professor, Akita International University, where he teaches Entrepreneurship. Special Advisor to President, (formerly co-founder, Vice-Chairman & Board Member),Tully's Coffee Japan Co., Ltd. and Founder & School Master, Marunouchi Entrepreneurship School. Mr.Suga was also Founder and ex-CEO of MVC (Mitsui Venture Capital) Corp. (Presently, Mitsui & Co. Global Investment Ltd.) and he also teaches Entrepreneurship at Keio Business School and Kyoto University, while serving as an Advisory Board Member of METI’s-affiliated Japan Entrepreneurship Education Network for Higher Education. He also serves on boards and provides special advisory functions to various emerging ventures in Japan, Singapore, and California. In 2008, he was awarded the Minister of Small Business Agency Award from METI-affiliated Japan Venture Award 2008 (Nurturing Entrepreneurs Section) for his contribution and track record in the field.

Michael Treasure, MBA (McGill '02)
Michael Treasure is a Senior Partner and co-founder of Arbutus Solutions, a consultancy that specializes in implementing business solutions focused on project and portfolio management for large utility and energy companies. Arbutus Solutions, with offices in Canada and Japan, was recognized as the “Project and Portfolio Management Partner of the Year”, by Microsoft Canada in December 2011. Michael Treasure has 20 years of IT and consulting experience and has recently co-authored a whitepaper on how to develop and implement a financial management solution for projects, programs and portfolios within large organizations.
