The CCCJ in collaboration with Tokyo Canadians Hockey Club organized another edition of "Hockey Night in Tokyo" at Legend's Sports Bar in Roppongi. Around 40 people came out to the event and enjoyed another great evening of hockey and refreshments. Part of the evening's spendings will go into the CCCJ CSR Fund. We look forward to welcoming more people to the next hockey night.
The CCCJ Canada 150 Speaker Series was succesfully launched with a very influential speaker, Ms Lise Thériault, Deputy Premier of Québec, Minister responsible for Small and Medium Entreprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development. She spoke about Quebec’s new international policy and the opportunities it will create for Japanese businesses. The CCCJ participated in the annual Canada Network Symposium on December 9th, 2016 at the Embassy of Canada to Japan. This annual symposium invites "friends of Canada" from all regions in Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Representatives were given opportunities to speak and update on their efforts to promote the bilateral relationship between the two countries, as well as grassroots interactions between people.
In collaboration with CCCJ member ReDev Properties and Trowbridge, the CCCJ hosted two tax seminars for Canadian expats living in Japan at the Tokyo American Club on November 28th and 29th. The seminar advised Canadians on property investment in Canada, tax regulations and concerns, as well as personal tax strategy while living abroad. The seminar is first of its kind in Tokyo in 10 years, providing valuable information to Canadians about doing taxes abroad. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
