Q: What is the CCCJ?

A: The CCCJ is a not-for-profit, private sector, membership business organization that strives to promote the development of Japan-Canada commerce and encourage bilateral economic ties.

Q: How many members does the CCCJ have?

A: At present, we have approximately 300 members.

Q: Do I have to be Canadian or work for a Canadian company to be a member?

A: No. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Canadian and Japanese relations. In addition to Japanese and Canadians, we have members from many other nationalities. This open policy also applies to companies.

Q: How do I become a member?

A: After submitting an application form, we will send you an invoice. Once we have confirmed receipt of your fee payment, your application will be presented for approval to our Membership Committee, after which your membership becomes effective. If an application is not approved, the membership fee is returned in full.

Q: What is the difference between categories?

A: First, your listing in our membership directory (Connections) is different. Corporate members are listed under their organization name, along with corporate contact information and a corporate logo. Corporate members may also add additional employees as Corporate Affiliate members. The Small Business and Professional listing is similar to a corporate listing, but with a shorter description. Company logos and additional employees are not available in this category either. For Individual members, listing information is limited (mainly personal contact information) and does not include company names, titles or websites.

Corporate members are also invited to attend our special VIP events which are held several times a year. Both Corporate, Small Business and Professional members also receive a link on our website and a listing in our service directory in The Canadian, our bi-monthly newspaper.

Corporate Sustaining members enjoy a range of special benefits including up to 25 representative memberships that carry full-member privileges, corporate recognition on professional sign boards at each CCCJ event and on event notices, 10 complimentary reservations to any breakfast, luncheon or networking event*, priority seating at head tables, complimentary advertising and logo placement on the CCCJ website and an increased corporate presence in Connections.

*Complimentary reservations can not be used for the Annual CCCJ Golf Tournament or the Annual Joint Chamber Cocktail due to limited space.

Q: Why should I become a member?

A: Being a member of the CCCJ offers an array of benefits regardless of membership category, including opportunities to attend informative presentations and seminars, joint-chamber networking events and social gatherings. We also provide various opportunities for our members to promote their businesses.

Q: How can I get involved in the CCCJ?

A: You can join one of our committees and actively contribute to both the CCCJ and the Canada-Japan relationship. Our committees work on various issues ranging from trade policies to member communications and events planning. We also welcome article contributions for The Canadian, offers to give presentations or seminars and suggestions for guest speakers.
